At the Cecil County CAC, we offer a wide range of services to support children who have experienced abuse and their families. We provide:
- Crisis support and guidance from a dedicated Family Advocate
- On-site therapy to help children cope with trauma
- Trauma support groups for children
- Community education programs to raise awareness about child abuse
- Support groups for non-offending caregivers
- On-site medical exams for thorough care
- Emergency financial assistance in times of need
- Safety assessments to protect children
- Court advocacy to navigate the legal system
- Referrals to connect families with vital community resources

You can find us at 135 East High Street, Elkton, MD 21921. We have parking available for all of our clients and bus stops are located within a block of our building. (We’re the yellow house with the covered porch.)

The Cecil County Child Advocacy Center Team brings together professionals with a shared commitment to helping children who have experienced abuse, including:
- Child Protective Services Assessors: Specially trained investigators who conduct sensitive interviews with children, assess their safety, and make recommendations to ensure their well-being.
- Law Enforcement Officers: These officers conduct thorough investigations, gather evidence, make arrests, and work with the legal system to pursue justice for child victims.
- State Prosecutor: This attorney carefully reviews cases, determines appropriate charges, guides cases through the court system, and fights for justice on behalf of child victims.
- Family Advocate: Provides crisis support, connects families to community resources, and offers guidance throughout the investigation and legal processes.
- Medical: A physician or forensic nurse who provides specialized medical evaluations to collect evidence, assess the health of child victims, and offers expert advice to the team.
- Children’s Therapist: A counselor with expertise in helping children cope with the trauma of abuse, supporting their emotional healing, and building resilience.
We have Poppy!
Poppy is our facility support dog, and she’s a beloved member of our team. She provides comfort and helps children feel safe during their visits to the CAC. Studies show that dogs like Poppy can reduce stress and anxiety for children who have experienced trauma.
